Who is Adam Crofts?
Adam Crofts is a session drummer, recording artist and songwriter based in Sheffield, UK. He has spent more than fifteen years behind the kit, building a name for himself as one of the most reliable and versatile drummers on the UK music scene. Over the years, he has worked with a wide range of artists, touring extensively across the USA and Europe. His steady rhythm and stage presence have made him a familiar face for fans who follow the British indie and rock circuit closely.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
Before touring the world, Crofts started out the same way most drummers do with a single kit and a lot of determination. What began as a hobby slowly turned into serious practice sessions, local gigs, and eventually paid work. Growing up in Sheffield exposed him early on to a strong local music scene filled with bands, rehearsal spaces and small venues. That environment shaped his work ethic and gave him access to a community of like-minded musicians who helped guide his early growth.
First Drum Kit and Sheffield Roots
The moment a drummer laid eyes on his or her first kit, those sticks probably hit the floor and never stopped going thereafter. Every drummer has a story about this milestone piece of hardware, the one to have significantly molded the way his skills have been produced. In addition to having a formative relationship with his original kit, Crofts gained access to Sheffield’s raw and authentic music style, with it having had a hand in his now refined approach to live performances.
Career as a Session Drummer
Session drumming has proved to be fruitful ground for Crofts; he built the kind of name for himself that bands and individual musicians reach out for when in a tight spot, either for studio work or when they are on the road for limited engagements. The ease and efficiency that he lends to projects across numerous projects have contributed to this—not to mention his versatility across styles and genres. This ability for swift adaptability is an asset to anyone looking for a drummer on a multitude of projects.
Drumming Style as a Premier Partner
A performer’s personal gear is often just as indicative of his persona and skill set as is his playing style; Crofts’ personal taste for drums appears to lend itself to the product of British music manufacturer Premier, having reportedly used the instruments during a significant portion of his career. His history with the company began a long time ago. He did a partnership with them with his first kit being Premier. This has become an official arrangement that has now placed him in their manufacturer’s roster.
Artists and Bands He Has Worked With
The U.K.-based touring artist has collaborated with a large cast of performers, and the list of acts he has worked alongside includes Charles Watson, Ed Cosens, The Crookes, and Good Cop Bad Cop, to mention a few. Toured throughout the USA and Europe
Touring entails some of the most strenuous aspects of music —whether through extensive road trips or late-night performances at many a packed arena—but it has come to define the working lives of many a road warrior over several decades.
